Training Assistance
Bringing on new employees always includes some level of training, be it for a specific job or to help understand company culture. We can help you train your new and existing employees through the following opportunities:
On-the-Job Training
On-the-Job Training (OJT) provides employers with a financial incentive to hire new employees who require some additional on-site training in order to learn the full range of their job duties. Employers who hire and train individuals under an OJT agreement may be reimbursed up to $5,000 or 50% of the new employees’ salaries during the agreed upon training period.

Customized Training
Customized training offers an employer the opportunity to avoid layoffs by training or retraining current employees. This gives employers a chance to promote from within and maintain internal stability.
On-site academies, offered by CLPCCD, enable managers to learn supervisory and other professional development skills. Programs are designed by employers in conjunction with Industry experts. For more information, contact Lucia Teixeira at [email protected].
The Alameda County Workforce Development Board (ACWDB) also offers incumbent and additional customized training to meet your specific needs. Whether you need position-specific or general trainings, ACWDB offers a 50% reimbursement for training costs. For more information, contact Samantha Miller at [email protected].
OSHA Training Center
The OSHA Training Center at Chabot-Las Positas Community College District (CLPCCD) is authorized by the U.S. Department of Labor to deliver occupational safety and health training to public and private sector workers, supervisors, and employers on behalf of OSHA. Students earn and maintain OSHA credentials, and can earn OTIEC Continuing Education Units to apply to professional designations such as the CSP, CHST, OHST and ABIH safety credentials. Training instructors are industry safety professionals who bring the latest information, experience and techniques into classroom instruction and hands-on learning exercises.

Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships offer job seekers an opportunity to learn new skills and earn college credit while working. Apprentices spend two-to-five years learning new skills and competencies while earning incremental wage increases as skills improve. These “Earn-and-Learn” options extend beyond the traditional trades into manufacturing, healthcare, government and other industries. Employers benefit from hiring apprentices as they get the chance to train to specific needs and promote from within. There are now many options for nontraditional apprenticeships, including single-employer or ones resembling on-the-training.
CLPCCD’s Economic Development Department is the required Local Education Agency (LEA) for a number of statewide apprenticeships. For more information, contact Lucia Teixeira at [email protected].
