A hashtag, or pound sign (#), is used in front of the specific filter to limit the search results on social media sites such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. It is a way to group messages with a common theme. When you click on a hashtag or search using a hashtag, you can see all the posts on that platform that have included that hashtag.

By following certain hashtags, you can also join the conversation related to your expertise and connect with people in your field.
